Comet is a South African Car Rental Company that has been offering top quality affordable car hire services since 1993. We have new cars, branches in most major centres, and highly trained motivated staff. We will do our best to help you enjoy your holiday in our great country and hope that you will leave with fantastic memories and a strong desire to return.

We are very excited to announce the launch of our new Travel site which, we hope, will be a valuable resource for anyone travelling to South Africa. Our focus initially will be on the Soccer World Cup which is to be held here from 11 June to 11 July 2010. We will be recommending products and services that we feel will benefit visitors and provide the same standard of quality and good value that Comet customers are accustomed to.

Our Travel blog will be launched soon and will provide regular updates on the situation “on the ground” with tips and hints to make your trip safe and enjoyable. We will give you a perspective on what to expect in South Africa, provide some enlightening stories and generally keep you up to date with the ongoing build-up to the great event. We hope that we will become an essential part of your daily routine when it comes to planning for your trip – of course we trust you’ll rent a car too!

Initially, you’ll simply be asked to “opt-in” to the service which will ensure that you become a part of our community.

New Rates effective 1 October 2009

Our new rates effective from 1 October 2009 are now updated on the `Prices` page.

We have endeavoured to keep the rates as affordable as possible and we have also introduced an optional R10 a day charge to give you full peace of mind and cover you against windscreens,tyres,rims and undercarriage damage.

Put us to the test, hire a car today

Hire a car with us for business in Cape Town, a visit to Johannesburg or a holiday driving down the Garden Route or the Kruger National Park. We have offices in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth.

On collection : We deliver to your hotel or guesthouse or we meet you personally at the Airport with your name on a board and the car will be waiting for you outside.

On return : Simply leave the car in the public car park. No `Airport Surcharge`, No extra for additional drivers. Public transport in South Africa is adequate but not up to international standards and the renting of a car is by far the most convenient and enjoyable way to see the country and all it has to offer. Reasonable rates, immaculately prepared new vehicles and an extremely high level of service are only some of the many benefits our customers enjoy.
